It’s true. I write romance.
What’s also true is that I freaking love it!
Once upon a time I was a literary snob. I went to University and studied the classics, some of which I hated by the way, because I love literature. I studied everything from Beowulf to The Canterbury Tales, Dante to the Brontes. What I discovered, much to my chagrin, is that while I love literature, it just doesn’t do when you want to curl up with a glass of wine, a piece of chocolate, and just sink into a story you know will come with a happily ever after.
So the snob admitted she loved romance novels.
How do you get from loving them to writing them, you ask? Well, the answer to that is simple. Love something enough and eventually you will want to try it out.
I’ve been writing all my life in one way or another and some of it felt natural, while some of it felt forced. When I sat down to my computer and started writing my first novel, a paranormal romance staring a sassy redheaded wolf shifter named Katherine LaFlamme, it felt right. The character wanted to come to life and I couldn’t type fast enough.
I wrote Blood of Eden in about a year; I thought that was amazing at the time. Then it took me five more years to edit it, put it aside, edit it again, and finally, edit it once more. So, it’s been six years since I started and here we are, with my first novel available for pre-order through Amazon.ca, Amazon.com, Kobo, Kindle, and wherever else you can buy books online, and the release date just just one month away on June 17th.
I’m kind of proud, can you tell?
